How do I apply?
Applications may be printed from our web page, click on "Applications."

If you cannot print an application click on "Contact Us" and provide your name and address, we will mail you a form.

What are the selection criteria?
Credit and disciplinary records will be evaluated. Each student will be interviewed. The buildings are smoke free.
What is the length of the lease?
Leases will correspond with the University's academic year.
If my roommate leaves, am I responsible for his/her rent?
No. Each individual is responsible for his/her own lease obligations.
Are summer rentals available?
Yes, call for prices and dates.
Must the apartments be vacated during University breaks/holidays?
No. Starting and ending dates will follow the University calendar. However, returning students may not leave possessions in the apartment over the summer without leasing the unit for the summer.
What utilities are included?
Residents enjoy Air conditioning, heat and electric (subject to excess usage charges), water, sewer and refuse removal. Expanded-channel Cable TV is included with connections in every room. High Speed Internet connection is included.
What is the rental cost?
Rent Start at $490 for a shared bedroom.

For additional privacy a "single-room supplement" (one person in a 2 person bedroom) is available and requires an additional charge. Please call for details.

Summer 2008 rentals are available for one or both PSU-Hazleton summer sessions. Call for prices.

All prices include furnishings, appliances, utilities AND expanded channel Cable TV service in each apartment and bedroom.
Do you offer payment plans?
Two Payment Options are available:
"Annual Payment" Plan, one time payment due by August 1.

"Semester Payment" Plan, three installment payments due each semester.

Fall Semester - August 1, September 1, October 1.
Spring Semester - January 1, February 1, March 1.

Semester cost can be paid in full on or before August 1 & January 1.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes, $250 payable when lease is signed.
Are there other fees?
A Non-refundable processing fee of $50.00 will be collected at the time of submitting an application. (Total paid to leasing office)

If the application is accepted a $300.00 administration fee will be due (to the leasing office) within ten (10) days of receipt of letter of approval. If this administration fee is not received the application will automatically be canceled. A lease agreement will be drafted after receipt of the administration fee and mailed to the resident.

If the lease agreement is returned (to the leasing office) within two (2) weeks $100.00 of the administration fee will be credited towards the total security deposit of $250.00 required. Therefore, $150.00 will be required to be sent back with the lease agreement. If my application is accepted but I do not move into the property for any reason, the processing fee and administration fee will be forfeited.

Can I get my own internet or telephone connection?
Telephone jacks are located in the living area and in each bedroom for those who desire individual "land-line" services. Verizon provides a variety of plans available at the resident's expense. Cell phones work well in and around the building.

Expanded-channel Cable TV is included in base rent and connections are provided in the living area and each bedroom.

How large is the apartment?
Each apartment has 950 square feet of living area.
Are all units 2 bedrooms?
Yes. Based on availability a "single supplement" (one person in a 2-person bedroom) is available at additional cost.
Can more than 4 people share the apartment?
No. Each bedroom is shared by two people, and total occupancy is four persons per unit.
How many baths?
Each apartment has 2 baths, shared by two people.
Are the apartments furnished?
Yes. Beds, desks, living and dining area furniture and kitchen appliances are included. Students will need to provide dishes, bed linens, throw rugs, etc.
Are washers and dryers on site?
Yes. A fully equipped coin-operated ($1.25 per wash; $1.25 per dry) Laundry room is located on the second floor. This room also has a coin-changer and vending machines.
Is off-street parking available?
Yes, one space per resident.
Is public transportation available?
Yes. The Hazleton Transit Authority "Penn State" route has a pickup in front of Highacres. Route maps and schedules are available. Penn State Students can ride HTA Free if they show their Penn State ID.
Will mail service be provided?
Yes. Each resident is assigned a locked mailbox located in our entrance lobby. The USPS delivers mail each day to each mailbox.
